This story was recently brought to my attention:
I cannot say what offences the owner has been charged with but for related posts see:
- Impersonating an emergency service worker in Victoria (October 17, 2017); and
- Acceptable hi-vis jackets? (April 22, 2016)
Is a decal like that really impersonating? It’s not insignia, is it?
Emergency services insignia includes (s 63B(4): any items (being uniforms, insignia, emblems, logos, devices, accoutrements and other things) that are generally recognised as pertaining to an emergency services organisation (other than the NSW Police Force) or as being used by an emergency services organisation officer…
I would think it could be ‘insignia’ – ie a distinguishing badge or emblem of military rank, office, or membership of an organization. Or an emblem, or logo or device. Who knows what the prosecution (if any) will rely on
Don’t you love it when I quote your own posts for techno info?!
