More litigation from bushfires appears to have come to an end. Litigation arising from the 2005 Wangarry fires which claimed 9 lives has, according to the ABC, settled – see Legal compromise struck over deadly Eyre Peninsula bushfires class action.

I discussed this class action in an earlier post – see Litigation over the 2005 South Australian Wangarry fires (21 July 2013) and Litigation from the 2005 Lower Eyre Peninsula (“Wangarry”) fires continues (22 October 2013).

Because the matter was a ‘class action’, a judge needs to approve the settlement. I’ll post details of that settlement and whether there are any implications for fire services or future litigation when the judge’s reasons are published.
