Best wishes to all those working tonight, in particular the volunteers across the many emergency services. Particular ‘shout out’ to the St John Ambulance volunteers at Sydney’s NYE. I had some great New Years’ nights with St John, long before the Sydney display became what it is today (I’m talking talking mid 1980’s) and it must have been NYE 1989/1990 that I came to Sydney from country NSW where I was serving as an honorary ambulance officer, and got to spend a shift with NSW Ambulance. Big times; I cannot imagine how much bigger it is now.
